Autumn is...

....Cosy jumper, Layers, elbow patches, tights and brogues.

Throw some hot chocolates with extra marshmallows and cream, some family movie nights (Back to the future 1,2 and 3 and now we're on to good old Indiana Jones) And that's what i call some great autumnal times! What makes Autumn for you?

I've been really enjoying some casual down time on weekend, this skirt is so comfy. I don't own many neutrals at all so think this is great for remixing possibilities. I can picture it with some tan knee high boots for a 60's retro look.

So its back to the grindstone here, and even more so as Hubs is working away for the week. Which is CRAZY weird. We have literally only spent 1 night away from each other in 6 years, but needs must and work is work. But its nice to have something to look forward to, the thought of his return is keeping a smile on this face! I know sooopppyyy! heehee!

And Whilst he's away i am knitting my little fingers off, a lovely reader asked what im knitting and the answer to that is a snood ( or infinity scarf), something simple for this novice knitter. But Oh my, its all consuming, all i want to do is knit and get it to at least a reasonable scarf length. Have i ever mentioned that i am soooo impatient!? Any of you lovely ladies knit? Do you have any easy knitting projects i could get my teeth in to?

Not Seeing The Wood For The Trees

Happy Friday Folks,
Well i have nothing much to say today other than the usual, WOOHOOO its the weekend, bring on the food, heeheehee.

I wore this outfit to work on Tuesday, i think...

I was only saying to Paul today how the days seem to be flying by at a ridiculous rate lately. Sometimes my head is so buried amongst accounts, payment dates and forward date planning for bill payments that i forget to actually register what the day is and to make the most of it. Kinda like not seeing the wood for the trees, my heads in the books looking for the end result that i cant see what's right in front of me, which in this case was actually some very beautiful woodlands :)

Its been really refreshing just taking a break for a change and seeing the world, the trees are turning some beautiful shades lately and i can't help but look up!

Having said that, today we are having the worst torrential rain i have seen in a long time, which is just no fun :-(

I bought this dress weeks and weeks ago and it just hung there, looking at me and for some reason i just didn't really feel much in the mood to wear it, i have no idea why! Its purple shade and swallow print are so pretty, and green tights are my new favourite!
Out of all my outfits Hubs actually LIKED this one... i know! That's gotta mean I'm doing something right (on the wife front at least!haha!)

One Dress, Six Ways

Hi there, lovely readers of Rachel the Hat! I'm Kym and I blog about my personal style (on a budget) over at bitty.and.bunny. I know we all have one or two pieces in our closets that we tend to wear more than the rest. But when you have limited funds, the question is always how to get the most wear out of each piece, while still making it look fresh and new with each outfit. Well, today I'm taking over Rachel's blog to show you six different ways to remix one dress - all with simple, basic items you already have in your closet.

1. add a tee shirt under:

Wear a thin tee under the dress. This not only provides a little more coverage, but it adds some visual interest as well. In this case, the simple, graphic print of the dress really compliments the pop of turquoise provided by the shirt.

2. add a tee shirt over:

Knot a tee over your dress for a casual look that allows you to easily add any color you like just by changing the shirt.

3. "tuck" a tee shirt in:

Belt a tee shirt over the dress to create the illusion of wearing a separate top and skirt. Not sure how? Here's a goof-proof tip: knot the shirt in the back or front, tuck the knot under, then belt it.

4. add a cardigan:

For a relaxed look, wear an open cardi over the dress, and cinch it in with a belt to add shape.

5. add a vest:

For those extra warm days when you just can't fathom anything covering your arms, throw a vest over your dress to keep it interesting.

6. add lots of layers:

When the temperatures begin to drop, pile on the layers for a cozy look. Here I belted a chambray button up and threw a chunky cardi on over it. A scarf and boots complete the outfit and keep me feeling warm & fuzzy all day long.

Winter Warmers

During the long cold days, sometimes i dont want to don a dress, sometimes i just want to feel all warm and snuggly. And seeing as wrapping a duvet around myself and calling it an outfit isn't acceptable attire i will settle for some cute knitwear!

Everythings Coming Up Posey

Anything with a posey on it sounds pretty enough to me. Nice with jeans or a skirt.

Cat Eyeglasses Sweater in Red

I have this in the blue and i love it. It always puts a smile on my face and everyone else who happens to see me wearing it. Its just a very happy sweater. And in red?! Even better!
