Dresses at Dusk

Happy Monday Folks!
Did you have a nice weekend? I do hope so!
I have been in a bit of a rut lately. I was standing in front of my wardrobe staring blankly in complaining to Hub's that i had nothing to wear (to which he did the husband eye roll thing, you know?) Maybe its the lack of shopping and that i'm feeling a little uninspired with what i have, i don't know.
So, after a mammoth trying on sesh where i was being a complete diva/spoilt brat and didn't like any of it (picture me throwing stuff on the bed in a huff like a child throwing its rattle out of the pram) i just picked up my favvvee dress. Knowing I'd already asked Paul if we could do blog photos today he responded to my dress choice with "didn't you do that one recently?" Gold star for observation hubby, gold star. But that wasn't really what i needed to hear at that (stroppy) moment in time. You see sometimes i just want to wear my favourite dress. Full stop. No need to worry that i've "blogged" it before and even worse, very recently. No worries that it's not remixed much differently than the last time i wore it. I just wanted some uncomplicated fave dress time. You get me?
And what resulted in this action? Well it made me do lots of this:
SMILING!!!

Sometimes you just gotta do what you want to do i reckon. Do what makes you happy, go with what feels right. I think i often over think things and make them more complicated than they need to be, and thats not just with my wardrobe. There's a life lesson to be learnt here me thinks...

Do you blog your outfits?
Do you ever get weighed down with the worry of repeat outfits?

It sounds so silly really, in real life (as opposed to blogasphere life) we all wear repeat outfits all the time, heck its not like we're Victoria Beckham and have a different outfit every freaking day, we're real life women.
So therefore ladies I stand up!
I am a repeat wearer of the same outfit...and sometimes two days on the trot!
(Sshh don't tell anyone that bit!)
It feels good to just grab a dress and go and not worry.
Anndd i think maybe i need a little shopping to get the creative juices flowing again, hahaha!

I feel like the dress is such a statement piece in itself that there's not a lot of re mix options, a jumper over it maybe? But i kinda like  love it just as it is.
If you're curious, this is when i last wore it here.

Dress: Joules
Shoes: Seychelles via Modcloth
Hat: Next
Scarf: Peacocks

We stopped at this viewing point on our way home from our lovely friends house on Sunday.
We had spent the day watching the kids play wonderfully and i had baby cuddles with their gorgeous 10 week old baby... hello broodiness (which then dissipated quite quickly as Neo had a tantrum as he couldn't take the toy trains home with him!)

So anyway, in other news ladies, the nights are drawing out ever so slightly and it means we have around an extra 40 minutes of light at the end of the day. Paul did say we probably wouldn't have enough light to take these photos, so apologise if these are a little dark, but i was ever so slightly excited that it was 4.30pm and still not dark! Springs-a-coming people!

So then ladies, you go forth and repeat those outfits!
And have yourself a very happy week!

Little bit '70's

Happy weekend everyone!!
I had these photos sat on the old desktop for a couple of weeks. Pre snow on ground- which is still outstaying its welcome.
Just a very simple outfit post, but sometimes thats a good thing, right?
Flared Jeans, polo neck, coat, hat, comfy wedges, done!

I fell in love with this jacket when i saw it in Look magazine (obviously the powers of advertising works on me...:-/) but i just couldn't justify £55 on another coat. I kept my beady eye on it and when it came to the sale it went down to a bargainous  £15 odd quid.. and so i added yet another coat to the collection. Someday maybe it will be a collection i can leave to my step daughter... coats and shoes,my legacy,ha!

Little bit of the 70's vibe makes me a happy gal.
Wishing you the best weekend lovelies!

Pay Day Treats

With a the End of January nearly in sight, it can only mean one thing... PAYDAY!! Woohoo! I'm not sure if you're like me, but January is one heck of a long month, especially when you get paid early for Christmas (which now feels like an age ago...yikes!!!)
So with my self induced shopping ban since well before Christmas i think it's only fair, you know as a reward for getting through a toughie of a month, that i have a little pay day treat!

Pay Day Treats

Don't get me wrong i don't think i'll be buying all this, but i sure do like a lot of it.
I have this urge to try different things outside of my comfort zone. Yes this shopping list has the usual culprits for me on it, i.e, the pretty dress and cute duck printed skirt, but i fancy trying out an edgier look with a khaki jacket and a pair of boots and a slouchy beanie. We shall see i guess!!
What are you fancying at the moment? And are you having  a little pay day  or a 'Well done you made it through January' treat?

Snow More

Snow, snow and more snow.. Its been snowing again last night and this morning and now its turned to that crappy slushy stuff with more forecast for tonight! I'm getting cabin fever from being in so much. My eye- concealer is completely emptytoo and i can't get to the shops to get it, so its au natural on the eye-bags front, lol, sorry about that!
Neo has been a bit poorly too today so its been cuddles on the sofa with extra TV time and lots of movies... we've had Cars, Fox and the Hound and i introduced him to my personal favourite; The Little mermaid, He tells me off though whenever i sing along (the little mermaid has the best sing a long songs..ever!!) apparently even at 2 and a half he thinks his mother is embarrassing.... not cool.

After all your comments from you lovely concerned readers on my last post in heels i thought i'd show you some wellies! These are my MEL wellies that i've had a year or so, just sat in the bottom of the abyss that is the shoe chest in my house. I completely forgot about them! so thanks to you lovely lot it made me remember them and pull them out of  storage. I'm sure, being British and all, they will get a lot of wear!!

I am really loving purple and red, a combo i wouldn't have thought of if it wasn't for blogging. That's the good thing about the blogasphere, inspiration is all around. Its truly wonderful! And of course the fleeced lined amazing tights were back on today...oh yes ladies.. best invention ever!! (British ladies, these are from Primark for a few quid)

Holly REALLY likes the white slushy stuff!
Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Cardi & Scarf: Tesco
Tights: Primark
MEL Wellies: Very
All really old

Head to tippee toe another really old outfit. I had this dress when i was pregnant 3 years ago and all the other bits are from years gone by. This cabin fever of being stuck in doors with the snow is making me wanna shop and break my no spend...:-/ Seriously want a little fix hahaha! So instead of breaking my no spend i have been thinking of potential forthcoming events ie. valentines day and my anniversary. Now for a 3rd wedding anniversary tradition says to give leather. But i'm not one for strict traditions (or a big leather type person) but it did get me thinking along the lines of a nice bag... (you see where im going with this, haha!)  I stumbled across this beautiful blue bag that is a great size and colour. I'm trying to weed out a lot of my crappy bags as i have a lot, and replace and keep just 3-4 really nice practical bags. The blue Ted Baker ticks all the boxes for me. But then this impractical but stunningly sweet little bag struck a big cord in my bag  loving heart.
But the million dollar question ladies is:
Practical and pretty bag or cute small bag?
(yes i have waaay to much time on my hands thanks to this snow!)

Think i'll be sending links to Hubby with a message in the Subject line of: URGENT! haha! Gentle hints, yer know, gently gently catchy monkey (or bag as the case may be;-)
So me and my wellies are off for now.... Hope you're staying safe and warm this week lovelies!
 Ciao for now!

Little bird in the Snow

So I'm kinda done with snow now. I'm ready to reface the living world and go to the shops and grab a coffee. Snow it's been fun, but feel free to do one now!!

So I've had this dress, tags still on, for the past year. Well almost year. I actually got it last January when my sister and I went out for her birthday and hit the shops of Abergavenny (Bizarrely it snowed then too!). It was on the mega sale rack (ie the rack of crap that no one else wants) and i think it was something silly like £5. I bought it and was pleased as punch with my little bargain. I then proceeded to leave it in the wardrobe for a whole year! It really proves that me being on a no spend since Christmas has made me shop my own wardobe and pull out some pretty nice dresses! I have to say im doing real well on the no-spend front. It feels quite liberating. I have however done a bit of window shopping online, you know, a bit of browsing,
Annnnd the one thing i keep coming back to time and time again is THESE...
Tell me, do you love or loathe?
Help me out here are they just plain ugly or pretty cool? Hi-top Wedges....hmmm?
I did not like them at all at first but now i can't stop thinking of all the possibilities of funky edgy (and comfy i might add) outfits i could create with them! They aren't my normal style but i think that makes me want them even more. What do you think?
The puurrddyy Birdy brooch was sent to me by the lovely Jordan, owner of a fabulous Etsy Shop Hexagon Inc. Hexagon Inc is Canadian based and they make eco-friendly, handmade cute as can be be, brooches. I  love this heart brooch... how cute for a valentines outfit!! To get to the UK  it arrived in 4 days.. i was mega impressed! And the brooch itself is beautifully made. Me and the lil bird are going to have many an outfit together i'm sure.

 Hat: & Tights & Belt i forget...
Boots: Matalan
Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Coat: Marks and Spencers
Scarf: Mum's
Brooch: Hexagon Inc
All old apart from the lovely Brooch

Ps.. Hi Mum I borrowed your scarf... Thanks!!
