Chilled in Chinos

Pretty much spent my weekend as the title says, chilled out in chino's. i am really liking teal and tomato.. who'd have thought those two would go.
I find when i wear lots of dresses i do look forward to some trouser time. This weekend was spent at the park, dog walking and shopping.
I had a horrible feeling this weekend that i may be getting old, reasons being:
I bought the new Newton faulkner album and have been listening to it non stop. My 9 year old step daughter sings all the songs word perfect. I sing along and get all the words wrong! i remember my parents doing that and thinking," Gaaawd they just don't get it"... yup i'm now that parent!
Secondly, a new supermarket (Sainsburys) opened just down the road and i was so excited!  Thats really sad isnt it!? Whats even worse was i really REALLY enjoyed my little jolly there and couldn't stop talking about how lovely the new Sainsburys is.
So this weekend has made me conclude
a. I'm officially old
b. My life is quite pathetic.

Least im old and happy;)

Poser

Happy Monday folks!
Looking in to by crystal ball i for-see a great week ahead of us. With big fat sunshine forecast and temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius. I predict smiles all round, summer dresses, long walks and happy days. Just call me Mystic Meg!

Dress: Falmer @ Matalan
Tan Wedges: New Look
Clutch: about 10 years old from Warehouse
Jewellery: Lola rose and various
Nail Polish: Barry M
Holly The Dog: all her own style

So we have a part time dog. Mia and Talyn (my step kiddos) have Holly the Dog at their mums house. When there's no one home we have started having her over our house. Neo is in love. He absolutely adores her.
She's a gentle old girl,  and turns out a bit of a poser. She loved the camera when i was taking these outfit pics! I mean not that im a poser, standing in front of a sheet in my garden having photos taken, right?!
I wore this outfit for a lovely trip to Margam Park. But alas the photos just didn't turn out well. It was middle of the day, the sun was too bright and Neo and Holly were running circles round us. Outfit photos weren't happening! Shame really as the park setting was beautiful. But alas it did not happen. So i rigged up a vintage throw on my washing line instead.  Do you ever go to lovely places but just cant get good shots?

Right then lovelies.... see you all in a couple. I'm off to enjoy this sunshine before it makes an exit!

Red

Happy Monday Folks! Another weekend, gone, so quickly!
I had a lovely relaxing weekend. If we're friends on Instagram you may have seen that i am the proud new owner of a sewing machine. My sis came down to assist me on Saturday as she's quite the pro and we potched about with it. And then.... Then i was on my own with it. And now i'm scared of it! I need to do some reading up i think as it is not coming naturally let me tell you. But i've only had the thing 2 days, we just don't know each other well enough yet. So i'm booking us a 2hour date together this afternoon to get to know one another better. Wish me luck!

Vintage 1960's Dress Via Ebay seller: Retro Rainbow Vintage (she has some AMAZING well priced pieces)
Brooch: Vintage
Daps & hair tie: New Look
Bag: Chelsea Girl range at River Island (on major sale)

I flippin' love this dress. It came with the most amazing vintage elastic white and red belt which, on the day of wearing  the dress, little to my knowledge, my son had stashed the belt away in his toy box. I was so sad!! But alas mama bear has found the belt and restored to its rightful place.
Even hubby looked up and smiled and passed a positive comment on this dress which never happens ;)
And the shoes. Do you call these daps? Or what? My mum used to buy us these when we were kids, the cheap mans trainers. She wouldn't buy us the top notch, fancy pants trainers all my friends were wearing, we had daps... and now i've gone full circle back to the daps. And my my they are comfy! Maybe you were on to something mum?? (hiii by the way mum, i know you're a lurker reading this xx)
And is it me or are my legs getting whiter? Seriously,  i'm going to be translucent soon. Come on Britain, show us some sun!

Ok lovelies, have yourselves a lovely week! I'll let you know how my sewing endeavours go...

GUEST POST: The lovely Lo

Hi friends of Rachel! My name is Laura (or better known as Lo) from the style and life blog Deliciously Yours. My blog is my place to share about my love of vintage and vintage-inspired fashion, and a little bit of my every day life in Toronto Canada.

This outfit was something that I threw together for work. This tee and romper are probably two of my most worn summer items, as they are both comfy and versatile. Never in a million years did I think that I would own (or even love) something that had a camouflage print on it, but I seriously love this top. I can pair it with so many things, and it's actually a pretty neat pattern. This romper is from my first online shopping experience ever, AND my first Dear Creatures purchase (of which I am now addicted). This outfit could be pretty casual, but I threw on my Grandmother's pearls, a belt, and little wedge sandals to make it more office appropriate!

And if you're curious how I did my hair, check out my tutorial How To: Dairy Maid Braids

Thrifted camo tee
Dear Creatures Cafe Romper
Belt from Forever 21
Vintage wedges
Grandmother's pearl necklace
Handmade leather bag from Guatemala

I hope that you will come and visit me over at Deliciously Yours! I have some exciting things in store for August, and you won't want to miss out!

xoxo Lo

Mulling over Mullets

Hiya Lovelies

Well, thanks so much for all your kind words on my last post, that shall be named the disastrous week. But i have to tell you, all your lovely thoughts and positivity must have been sent my way as the shop called me today and told me they had found my phone under some of the fixtures and fittings!!! What are the odds of that???!! I feel so lucky.I went to the shop, got my phone and nearly kissed that lady!! i looked at all the photos (and started to take them all off to save!!) and realised what i had lost and how unbelievably lucky i am to have it back. There were lots of lessons learnt though, and i'm a firm believer of two things, 1. Law of attraction and 2. Everything happens for a reason! The world is a strange and marvellous place huh!

Cardi,Skirt and Top: Clothing at Tesco on major sale!
Necklace: Half price at Boots
Shoes and bag: New Look

I have needed a nice comfy pair of black shoes for ages. I was delighted when i stumbled upon these when getting a Starbucks which is actually in New look!(lethal i tell ya) It was shoe heaven. They are really comfy! And in return for buying these babies i gave 4 pairs to charity. Good shoe karma i like to think!
And the mullet skirt, jurys still out on this one for me at the moment. It was only £5 so gave it ago, but just not sure, they seem a bit weird to me. It feels fancy pants and maybe im just not a fancy pants type girl ;)
Well thank you again lovelies for stopping by. Have yourselves a cracking day xxx

GUEST POST: The Lovely Sian

Hi there everyone! I'm Sian from Rebel Angel and I'm guest posting for the lovely Rachel today! I was super excited when she asked me to guest post for her as I adore her blog and colourful outfits, I just hope I can reach her outfit standards on here =) You can get a little of my usual style from this post – this is almost my typical type of outfit: pretty dress, cardigan, tights....but the shoes are something altogether different. I'm not exactly a 'trainers' type of girl – I of course owned the Converse typical of my generation and wore them with my skinny jeans, but my heart just wasn't in it, and I was glad when kitten heels came in to fashion so I could wear baby pink ones with bows on!
But I spotted these shoes when out shopping with my sister recently and just had to have them. I've seen a few bloggers sporting trainer-esque shoes with dresses and shorts recently and loved the change, so I had to try it out myself. Then how can you go wrong with the little extra height these provide?! Plus, they're super comfortable =D

ardigan: Zara (sale)
Dress: Zara (sale)
Shoes: River Island
Of course, when you're wearing shoes with that Creeper platform style you have to do that typical blogger pose – it's mandatory XD
Anyway, the dress is very typical me – lace, pretty shape, low back. It's also something I bought on that same day out shopping when I noticed that Zara had a sale on, and the cardigan is from Zara's sale nearly two years ago now!
I hope you've enjoyed my post and seeing a little bit of what goes on over at my . Don't forget to pop over and say hi, I don't bite!! Here's my Blog
