Happy 2nd Birthday to my Wonderful Son

2 Years ago today i gave birth to my son. At exactly 17.58 the most wonderful thing to ever happen to me happened.
My son was passed to me and love rushed through my body, a feeling like no other i had ever experienced.
Today, two years on that love is even stronger then i ever thought physically possible.
I'm so proud to be Neo's Mummy.
I feel so lucky every day to have him as my son.
And, even though we have officially hit terrible two's territory, I am proud of how head strong and courageous, like his daddy, he is.
Today, i have only cried once ;)
I was cooking his favourite meal (spaghetti, he loves to slurp it up) in the kitchen, he ran out to me and into my arms. I picked him and cuddled in to him and stayed that way, swaying back and fourth to the music on the radio.
The song just so happened to be one of my favourites.
Tears streamed down my face.
Music is an amazing thing, it can really hit you on such a  personal level. This song may be a love song to many.
To me, this afternoon, the lyrics resonated deep within me. Whilst holding my son i wanted that moment to last forever....
(and now im crying again, someone pass me a tissue....)

Happy birthday Light of my Life. Thank you for being my son, Neo
Love you to infinity and beyond
xxxxx

Easy Like Friday Morning...

EBEW - Back To School

UPDATE: adding this to this months EBEW as it is my favourite preppy look! Hope you like it!!

Hellooo lovelies, welcome to friday! And for us Brits a long Bank holiday weekend, aint that grand!

Shirt: Clothing at Tesco
Blazer: Matalan
Jeans & Brogues: Next
Bag (my laptop case) : Vintage, gifted from hubby
Specs: c/o Firmoo

Remember i mentioned the other day that i was actually in work doing really boring stuff. Well this was what i wore on that boring day, and i was going to say that its quite a boring outfit, for me. No brooches, bangles or bells;) just simple preppy style. I've been wearing this a lot lately. In-fact i've been living in these jeans and this blazer on and off all week. yesterday we had an appointment at the vets (Holly has a bady eye, bless her) and i swapped out the shirt for a simple red and white Breton top.
I think i've been craving me some simplicity. Life around us lately is pretty stressy and crazy so i think i've gone super simple with my clothing. And i've enjoyed it, a lot!
These brogues are now well and truly worn in and feel like slippers, i really wanna wear them with some cute dresses and tights to see if i can work that re mix... any suggestions for what to wear with Brogues?
Do you ever crave simplicity in your outfits?
As much as i enjoyed this, i've also been planning some major colour mixing ensembles, coming to a blog post real soon!
Right ladies, i'm off , got a humongous amount of work to do today, with the possibility of the in laws coming this weekend, some new business ventures to look in to and a huge mess to clean. On top of that i have the mother of all mother headaches... nice! Wish me luck...

Love to you all
xxxx

Ps one week countdown till this fella is 2!! eeeeee
Footnote: this photo is from a few weeks ago, his hair is longer and crazier right now. we judge age my hair craziness I was going to take a photo  and put it here, but he was picking his nose and really, no one wants to see that, not even his mama;) xox

Kissy Kissy

Hello lovelies, and how are we? Good, yes?
Well Mondays rolled round once again as quick as ever!
I managed to get out this weekend to Hobbycraft to stock up on some bits that i need for some crafty plans. Last night i went to bed and crafty goodness was whirling round and round in that lil brain of mine and i'm feeling totally inspired right now! I just want to get my teeth in to a good productive project or two. I'm looking forward to autumn coming by and picking up where i left off last year on the crochet and knitting front too, for some reason these seem like winter sports to me. Summer i just cant seem to pick up those needles. Strange...
I've never been a crafty gal so im really enjoying these new skills im picking up along the way and new hobbies to entertain my over active mind. Only problem is, finding time. I dont even know where im supposed to pluck that from?! Answers on a postcard...please!?!

Lips top: Old originally Dorothy Perkins but i got it from Ebay about 3 years ago
Jeans: F&F Tesco
Shoes: Lotta
Cardi: Super old from Topshop
Bag and belt: Matalan
Necklace: Vintage
Glasses c/o: Firmoo

So again this is mostly old. The jeans are from the new range of jeans in at Tesco right now. Obnoxiously pink jeans were missing from my ever growing coloured jeans collections, so added they were and me likey.(ive also added mustard...prepare to see them a lot, I likey them too!)
The top originally had a floppy wierd bow that just didnt sit right. i bought it ages ago on ebay for pennies and then didnt like it, squirreled it away for 2 years, dug it out by complete fluke the other day whilst sorting stuff out and now love it, plus the stupid floppy bow fell off as i was trying it on. This is why i hate getting rid of clothes. Im fickle!
exhibit b to my fickleness: This cardi. This cardi was bought when i was 18 (eeeek nearly 10 years ago:/ ....) its a size 10 and i used to wear it a fair bit. I then got bored of it and gave it to my mum about 3 years ago. She then got some wear out of it and then forgot about it. For some reason i thought to myself the other day, "oh how i miss that thin striped cardi" random, i know. So i text mummy dearest and what d'you know shes a squirreler too and had it at the back of her wardrobe.
Dont get me wrong i can't do it up but it was perfect for a bit of pattern mixing!

This is why im a hoarder hoarderson!! But a happy one!

Seeing Hearts

Welcome to the weekend folks...
wooohoo i am so glad its here. First weeks back after a break are always super hard and super tiring, I'm knackered!! Have you had a good week?

If dogs could smile i totally think she would be!

Dress: New Look
Scarf as belt & Cardi: Tesco
Necklace: Old
Shoes: Old

All of this outfit is made up from things i've had for ages now. This dress has only been worn once and then shunned to the back of the wardrobe, and the scarf was worn a couple of times in spring. I'm actually having fun shopping my wardrobe, making outfits out of what i already have and gee whiz i have A LOT! I am seeing lots of autumn/winter stuff coming out that looks so good!! I love autumn (doesnt every style blogger?) And as much as i moan about the weather, i look forward to tights of all colours, layers and wooly slouchy knits! Oh yes! the girl who has been complaining about not having enough sun is soooo over that. Bring on Autumn i say!

Last week i saw Katie tie a scarf as a belt. It dawned on me, i used to do this all the time when i was 18(eek nearly 10 years ago!), then stopped. So i thought why not! My waist maybe a little LOT bigger than when i was 18 but heck i can still try it out! I've been wanting to add a hit of much needed pink to this dress for a while and this turned out just right! Heart scarf on heart dress. I have a real thing for hearts , oh yes...
12345 just a few i've worn here on the blog, and there's more. I also have lots of hearts all around my house, pictures, frames, wall hangings. what can i say, I heart hearts!
I have some DIY ideas brewing and im mega excited to make some stuff and show you guys. I've also being sewing up some little lovely pieces, which i may just do a small show and tell ie bragging about what i managed to do! yay me!! hahah!

Ok well you all have a reeeeeaaalllyy lovely weekend

Cheers lovelies! xx

One of Those Days...

Hiii ladies, how was your weekend?
Well It's officially back to work for me, bleugh! I've thoroughly enjoyed my breather from the reality that is a stressful job and now its back to the finance and back to chasing and paying the bills.
From having time off i have to work an extra day this week to catch up on myself. Jeez, when you're your own boss there isn't reeeaally holiday time as such. But compared to how i used to be i have definitely learnt to switch off somewhat.. if i hadnt i think i may have gone CUCKOO!! So on that note its nice to be here, half sane at least!

Blouse: New Look (last year)
Jeans: F&F clothing at Tesco
Shoes: Davina for Next
Cardi: Primark
Bag: Peacocks

This is one of those (quite often if i'm honest) times that i don't like these photos. So then i did the do i dont i post them shuffle and decided that yehhh i may as well. We all have off days right? Strangely i thought i looked ok today in real life, considering*!!
I thought i was having a nice-ish hair day and the colours of my chosen outfit popped nicely against our grey cloudy skies. So that makes me wonder, what do i go by? The photos or my real life view? Hmmm chicken or the egg scenario me thinks!
So i've been trying to shop my wardrobe again and came out with this outfit which has all been there for a while, some bits longer than others. I'm trying to use separates more rather than dresses, as sometimes with dresses there's only a couple of really obvious ways you can wear them, unless you count inside out and back to front, which i wont rule out.
Annyway i've chewed your ears off (eugh weird saying) for long enough.
I'll be back soon as its Everybody Everywhere time again. This month its monochromatic... i mean seriously?! all one colour, surely this is not possible? I have to say for me this is a TOUGHIE!!You know me, the more colour the better. least i have shades of... to play with! Oh a challenge.. i accept!!
See you all very soon and have yourselves a corker of a week!
xox

* considering i had the silly dog in bed with us as we had a massive thunderstorm . The poor old girl was terrified. So she slept in bed between us, but with every clatter of thunder she'd jump and then go crazy. I was juuusst nodding off to sleep and the thunder boomed, before i knew it i literally had a dog on my face!! Obviously my face must be a very safe place as she would not move... Needless to say im very tired and praying there's no thunder tonight! Bizarre really, if aint the kids its the dog!

Rachel The Hat: First Ever DIY!!!

Well hello there ladies? Are you ready to get your DIY on?
Now first things first, do not expect anything advanced or ground-breaking here. I am a complete novice in the DIY area and therefore starting with the basics.
Secondly, where ever i can tell you the source of the original diy'er then i will always put it in the post. Crafting, customising and diy are all things i've wanted to do for a really long time but lacked confidence (and time... you know popping a baby out, raising him etc ;) to actually put my energies in to doing it. But after reading so many inspiring blogs i'm finally giving it a go and loving it.
So without further a do i present to you:
Customised shoes

Ok, so i've seen this done lots over the blogasphere, but specifically Vicky of Magpie Girl made me wanna go try this.
Here's what i did:
I had this pair of lace up brogues that i just did not wear. They had a dirty scuff on the front too so that kinda put me off wearing them.

So i bought some all purpose metallic silver spray:

Stuffed newspaper in the shoes to protect the insides and sprayed the hell out of them.

I let the first coat dry and bodied up with about 3 layers of paint

Tips:
*To spray the tongues and make a nice neat job i used cocktail stick to space the tongue from the shoe
*Make sure to spray about 20 cms away from the shoe, i was a bit of an eager beaver and sprayed up close and it looked all runny and blotchy
*Do put papers down, this stuff goes everywhere and watch out if its windy.. make sure you're not standing down wind or you'll end up with some silver looking skin!
*Don't leave your fab new shoes outside to dry, then go make yourself a congratulatory coffee and not realise its raining... :-/
*Do body up, the more the better.
* And don't forget to get some funky ribbon to use as laces, i plan on changing these out to some lovely polka dots or possibly some blue... oh the possibilities are endless. Interchangeable laces!

And then finally go wear your new pretty shoes!

The fab thing is you can pretty much do whatever colour you want, I'm thinking of going over these with GOLD for autumn/winter.
So there we have it! Rachel The Hat's first DIY!
Easy Peasy right?!
So, i hope you like it, and if you give it a go please do let me know!!
