Very Fancy Booties

Ever plan a whole outfit around a pair of shoes? That's exactly what i did with this outfit, worked from the bottom up. Nothing wrong with that i reckon, especially when the shoes are show stoppers like these babies!
These beautiful Daniel Footwear booties are the piece de resistance, i can see them being my fancy boot of choice all winter long. They will be great with super skinny jeans and even with tights for a night out. Studded entirely with silver round studs, they are just magnificent, i just couldn't stop looking down at my feet when i wore them and they most definitely put a spring in my step.
If you haven't figured out yet, i am very much a shoe gal.
I love shoes, always have, always will. After i had my son i kinda of stepped away from heels for a while and went to more practical shoes. But the past 12 months i have re found my love of heels and great shoes and have re built my collection. One can never have enough shoes right?!
Boots have been top of my agenda this month, wanting to gear myself up for the coming winter and these definitely tick the box.
As to the outfit i then matched up to the boots? Well the aztec skirt is a fairly recent purchase from New Look as is the boxy orange top but that was bought in the summer sale. Both bought on separate occasions but were like they were made for each other, love when that happens! I am very much looking forward to thick black tights and this skirt with a chunky knitted jumper through winter. But for now, we still have this freakishly warm weather to deal with so i dared to bare the legs again before hibernating them for winter;)

If you're wondering, this is the the Ancient Wonders Necklace which i currently am besotted with (for this week, haha it changes regularly)
If you're also wondering about my cray-cray hair i think it was channelling Diana Ross that day. There just seemed to be no taming it! Thank god for hats ;)

aren't they beeauutiful!
Skirt Hat & Top: New Look

So i have my fancy winter boots sorted i am now on the look out for  knee high boot or possibly over the knee?

Do you have your eye on any fabulous boots for this winter? Do share so i can go have a nosey and share your shoe love too!

Rachel The Hat: First Ever DIY!!!

Well hello there ladies? Are you ready to get your DIY on?
Now first things first, do not expect anything advanced or ground-breaking here. I am a complete novice in the DIY area and therefore starting with the basics.
Secondly, where ever i can tell you the source of the original diy'er then i will always put it in the post. Crafting, customising and diy are all things i've wanted to do for a really long time but lacked confidence (and time... you know popping a baby out, raising him etc ;) to actually put my energies in to doing it. But after reading so many inspiring blogs i'm finally giving it a go and loving it.
So without further a do i present to you:
Customised shoes

Ok, so i've seen this done lots over the blogasphere, but specifically Vicky of Magpie Girl made me wanna go try this.
Here's what i did:
I had this pair of lace up brogues that i just did not wear. They had a dirty scuff on the front too so that kinda put me off wearing them.

So i bought some all purpose metallic silver spray:

Stuffed newspaper in the shoes to protect the insides and sprayed the hell out of them.

I let the first coat dry and bodied up with about 3 layers of paint

Tips:
*To spray the tongues and make a nice neat job i used cocktail stick to space the tongue from the shoe
*Make sure to spray about 20 cms away from the shoe, i was a bit of an eager beaver and sprayed up close and it looked all runny and blotchy
*Do put papers down, this stuff goes everywhere and watch out if its windy.. make sure you're not standing down wind or you'll end up with some silver looking skin!
*Don't leave your fab new shoes outside to dry, then go make yourself a congratulatory coffee and not realise its raining... :-/
*Do body up, the more the better.
* And don't forget to get some funky ribbon to use as laces, i plan on changing these out to some lovely polka dots or possibly some blue... oh the possibilities are endless. Interchangeable laces!

And then finally go wear your new pretty shoes!

The fab thing is you can pretty much do whatever colour you want, I'm thinking of going over these with GOLD for autumn/winter.
So there we have it! Rachel The Hat's first DIY!
Easy Peasy right?!
So, i hope you like it, and if you give it a go please do let me know!!

This weekend...where do I start!

Well so far it's been one of those weekends were a ton of stuff has happened. We've had long days of kids parties, shopping, lunches and driving.
We also have had long nights as Neo decided to come down with "I no longer want to be in my cot" syndrome and screamed at the top of his lungs until 2.30 this morning. We intermittently tried taking him out, calming him down and attempting to put him back but the little monkey was not having it, until he burnt himself and us out!
Also my 8 year old step daughter had her first sleep over at a friends house which ended abruptly at midnight when she called and asked to be picked up as she was scared. It made me so sad as she must have been feeling so lost and uncomfortable there.... today she's dancing around in a fairy costume being a kid again, which I love! Kids grow up way to quick these days, we're trying to encourage her to stay young and enjoy being a kid. It's hard in today's society when kids are 8 going on 18.
Soooo needless to say I'm feeling super super sleepy today. Bacon sarnies were consumed by all(apart from Neo, lol) and now we're sunday chilling altogether!LOVELY!!!!
Here's a few snaps from the weekend:
Dressed down and dam comfy, chino's and denim shirt

easy espadrilles

My new shoes, expect to see me in these a lot. They're like slippers!!

Neo's 1st proper shoes!

My retro print party frock

Exhausted after party

Peace at last

And here's a few from the fairies and elves party (which was AMAZING! my friend is a crafty genius, she made hand tied tutu's, and elf hats and wands and allsorts!)

Neo really suited being a little elf lol!! Think it must be the ears!

Got some outfits to post tonight so hopefully will write later!
Are you all having eventful fun weekends? Hope so!!

Show Me The Shoes!

I love shoes, I am you're stereotypical girl and I don't care!!
I have dozens(and dozens) of pairs, to the point where if you were to come to my house, you couldn't walk in to a single room without coming across one or two pairs(the rest are stuffed under my bed, but don't tell hub's! His rule is one out one in, mine is more the merrier! And also yes I obviously have a messy house!)
I do believe there aren't many men that understand. Take my hub's. I believe he has 3 pairs in total. THREE MEASLY PAIRS!! How could I live like that??!!
For me shoes can finish an outfit, but they can also start one, yes I have been known to base a whole outfit around (a very fabulous) pair of shoes.
These one's to be precise:
Aren't they pretty!
Irregular Choice
 (My favourite shoe brand)

Shoes can make me smile, they never make me feel fat and always look good!

Since having the kiddiwinkles, heels are mostly impractical and look ridiculous when teetering through soft play (trust me on that one! Been there done it, bowed my head in shame, but my feet still looked fabulous)

So as much as I love all my shoes, some of the heeled varieties are a little neglected due to lifestyle changes ( But still loved very much, of which I assure them at least once a week)
But even though I compromise on my height, I don't like to compromise on prettiness! Why should I? After all

"The fact is, sometimes it's hard to walk in a woman's shoes that's why

 we need

really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun."

Never a truer word said Carrie Bradshaw!

So with that in mind, here are some of my hot picks for this week:

DAY SHOES,

You know you're running about it, pool, park, shopping shoes:

All these pretties are from Asda and not one pair id over £8!! Pretty and kind to my purse! Which means I can have two pairs!

And then we have

SMART SHOES
I could quite literally buy all of these beauties! Again all from Asda and all are £10 or less!
Guess where I've been on my lunch break!!

So with that in mind, throw those nasty trainers away and slip your feet into something gorgeous! Cos as the L'Oreal adverts keep telling me, we're, apparently, well worth it!!
