Autumn capsule inspiration: Colour Board

Autumn capsule inspiration

When I start to look at my next seasonal wardrobe I always start with a colour scheme. Usually this will be one or two particular colours and then it will be what blends and works well with those colours.

These are the filler pieces that will fit around my great key items and basics, and add that fantastic flourish.

This season for me I think will be about Blush and Bordeaux, or pink and burgundy if you prefer.
These two colours are fantastic with each other as well as navy, black cream and khaki.

The first thing that gave me inspiration was actually this beauty: the style, the colours and the detail all made me swoon. Esprit seem to have some rather wonderful pieces that fit nicely with my whole seasonal colour palette

It was then that I looked back through my summer capsule and realised I'd really quite like to continue down the bohemian style road i've been walking of late. It's easy, it's relaxed and really suits my way of life.

There's no point filling my capsule with trousers and office attire when i sit at home infront of my laptop most days.
Making it work for you is absolutely key

Undoubtedly the capsule will still hold some standard stripes and blue jeans as these are inevitable go-to's of mine, and a sort of mum-uniform quite often. But for the days when I want to be styled, I'm thinking of the above pieces.

Shall we take a closer look?

Find these Here & Here

The Blush sweater was another major pull for me on the colour scheme, paired with an ever present (in the winter that is) khaki parker. Casual yet put together.

The flares are back big time for me. I love how flattering they are on us ladies curves! Have you tried any flares? I highly recommend. The tee falls beautifully in to my colour scheme also, and a bargain. Shall make a great layering piece too.

For me a pair of mid-low heeled ankle boots are absolutely imperative. I live in them. I like a pair i can shop, school run and look smart in. These from New Look really look the part.
The corduroy skirt is for me a casual take o the black faux leather a-line skirt.. now this could be just me, but sometimes in my small little town in the sticks, wearing a faux leather skirt in the light of day looks a tad over dressed. Never one to be terribly deterred by standing out at such, but also choosing to be comfortable is important to me. This a-line skirt I think fits perfectly in to my day-wear category without being to out there for the small town folk that see me tottering about, doing my shopping.

Add in a couple of eye catching yet, re-mixable dresses and you've got the basis of a great capsule working out for you.
I love the simplicity of both these pieces and how the will work with a Parker or a biker jacket, which makes them perfect capsule dresses.

With my colour scheme down, I just have a few key pieces to tie down and I will be bringing the key pieces instalment to the blog very soon.

So, colour scheme.. what do you think?
If you were to pick yours what would it be?

Spring Blues and Whites

I have to be fair the UK has been blessed with some glorious spring weather of late. The temperatures may not be hitting hot figures just yet, but sunny dry days are far nicer than April showers.
For me the perfect thing to wear when its not quite hot is the ever comfy, lightweight joggers.
I freakin' love them. They're just like legit pj's that you get to wear out in public, how can you not love them. I embrace comfy fashion whole heartedly. And comfy yet funky trousers like these pretty babies are perfect. Blue and white has just such a lovely fresh look.  I picked these blue geo print joggers up from New Look. They were at the front of the store, they grabbed my eye and bam! They were bought. And for £9.99 i have to say it was money well spent. I've worn them numerous times already, perfect for throwing on for the school run or a day out. I am yet to trial them with heels as they are just so damn comfy and i've been lapping that up in the form of comfy outfits.
But who know's maybe some black strappy heels and a blazer could also smarten these up for an evening look.

Very Fancy Booties

Ever plan a whole outfit around a pair of shoes? That's exactly what i did with this outfit, worked from the bottom up. Nothing wrong with that i reckon, especially when the shoes are show stoppers like these babies!
These beautiful Daniel Footwear booties are the piece de resistance, i can see them being my fancy boot of choice all winter long. They will be great with super skinny jeans and even with tights for a night out. Studded entirely with silver round studs, they are just magnificent, i just couldn't stop looking down at my feet when i wore them and they most definitely put a spring in my step.
If you haven't figured out yet, i am very much a shoe gal.
I love shoes, always have, always will. After i had my son i kinda of stepped away from heels for a while and went to more practical shoes. But the past 12 months i have re found my love of heels and great shoes and have re built my collection. One can never have enough shoes right?!
Boots have been top of my agenda this month, wanting to gear myself up for the coming winter and these definitely tick the box.
As to the outfit i then matched up to the boots? Well the aztec skirt is a fairly recent purchase from New Look as is the boxy orange top but that was bought in the summer sale. Both bought on separate occasions but were like they were made for each other, love when that happens! I am very much looking forward to thick black tights and this skirt with a chunky knitted jumper through winter. But for now, we still have this freakishly warm weather to deal with so i dared to bare the legs again before hibernating them for winter;)

If you're wondering, this is the the Ancient Wonders Necklace which i currently am besotted with (for this week, haha it changes regularly)
If you're also wondering about my cray-cray hair i think it was channelling Diana Ross that day. There just seemed to be no taming it! Thank god for hats ;)

aren't they beeauutiful!

So i have my fancy winter boots sorted i am now on the look out for  knee high boot or possibly over the knee?

Do you have your eye on any fabulous boots for this winter? Do share so i can go have a nosey and share your shoe love too!

Updating an Old Dress with a denim vest and statement necklace (&a BIG thankyou!)

I think i'm ever so slightly late to the game on the denim vest front. And by ever so slightly i mean years. I have seen bloggers rocking denim vests for as many summers as i've been doing this blogging malarkey (3 incidentally, in-case you were wondering). But as much as i appreciated them on others i never delved in on the vest front, purely because i thought it may have been unnecessary summer layers.
But since buying it there are 2 great things i have found:
1. when its slightly cooler you're happy for more layers, sleeveless it may be but the thick denim does act as a wind breaker, which is a good.
2. By layering the vest over all my old dresses i'm creating totally new outfits! Now i can get some extra mileage out of the many many dresses i own, all by chucking on a denim vest.
Who knew(not me evidently) vests could be so pleasing!
Plus i just got this one on mega sale for £5 here so i am super pleased.
I have a ton of dresses i can not wait to try remixing, however, even though i have lots of dresses that hasn't stopped me looking at some major crush worthy ones like this dress(so pretty), their aztec beauties would be perfect with ma new vest...swoon!
So are you a vest owner/wearer?
Do you get much mileage out of yours?

Off Duty

In Friday's post i mentioned a little down time was needed, which is exactly what i've had. Granted i worked Saturday but i had a very chilled evening and so far a super chilled Sunday with lots of reading in the sunshine of my garden. And this outfit matches my chilled out, off duty type mood. Since I received this top, i have not stopped wearing it, it's the perfect spring time throw-it-on top. Breton tops never fail for me. Add to my chilled outfit, some aviators to hide the lack of eye makeup, some red lipstick to trick people into thinking i have actually made an effort and my new Leopard print slip-ons for ultimate comfort and i am done and done!
