Baby Blue and Red: A great colour combination to try

I put this colour combination together recently and fell in love. Something about the pale blue and the red that actually really works. The pale of the blue and the bold of the red acts as a great contrast and is a nice alternative to other neutrals. This is a basic jeans and a jumper look but there's something about adding in little bits of interest to make it less of a boring run of the mill outfit.

 THE COAT

Red coat of dreams that keeps on giving. I flippin' love it. I wear it so many times a week. Instant perk you up in a coat and is a dreamy shade of red, and of course is the colour of the season without a doubt. 

What you can't see in these photos is that it has a boucle texture to it which means it looks smart and feels cosy too.

 JEANS

I paired it with my favourite jeans which are a new addition. I've sorta of quit skinny jeans these past 6 months, i just don't feel comfortable in them any more. I don't like how they look on my pear shaped figure, on my ample hips and thighs for me they're just not flattering. The mom jean and the straight leg is where its at for me at the moment, and since i bought these Topshop Moto jeans i have been living in them. Theyre a true denim (so not much stretch) but they are comfy because they aren't clingy like a skinny jean. There's something about the silhouette they create that i'm really enjoying right now.

 THE JUMPER

Oh the jumper.. pale blue isn't a colour i've gravitated towards before, but i saw this and just thought it could work incredibly well with a lot of other items i own. Like i mentioned it acts as a great neutral but with interest. The pearls on the sleeves are such a great little adornment and add the perfect bit of interest to a normal jumper and jeans look.

 FINISHING TOUCHES

I finished the look with some statement earrings, the blue tonal baubles add in another bit of interest, and the navy comfy sock boots are seriously some of the comfiest boots i've ever owned. The style of sock boots sits perfectly with this style of jeans and the point of the boot adds elegance. The kitten heel means these are perfect day wear boots, and i have worn them from 8am till 9pm at night without one single grumble. Oh how i love a comfy boot!

Cosy Knitwear and Comfy Jeans

Happy 1st November lovelies!
It has finally dropped temps here in Wales meaning i am completely drawn to knitwear like a moth to a flame.
My shopping habits with Knitwear haven't always been healthy as i have been known to have one to many flings with one to many knits. I have been a knitwear hussy.
I have given so many jumpers and cardigans away to charity and theres still a load in my loft as i usually bore very very easily of them. I'm not entirely sure why🤔.
But after my month long shopping ban was lifted and the temperatures dropped around the same time, i knew it would be wise to buy a couple of new jumpers, and it would have to be something i loved for me to not have just a one night stand with it. So shopping i went. And jumpers i found. One being this one today.. and i'm pleased to say, it is most definitely knitwear love.

The Coat

The coat is possibly one of my favourite (Top 3 at least) and is from La Redoute earlier this year, think it was back in January or February when i honestly thought i wasn't going to get much wear out of it that side of Spring. Turns out i did and it also turns out i'm still besotted with it 6 months on. My husband is not a big fan (in his words, "It does nothing for you" .. What does he know right?!) but that kind of makes me love it all the more. This coat is a slouchy relaxed style that makes it sublimely comfortable and accommodates chunky knitwear easily underneath it without making me feel like the circulation to my arms is being cut off. Its also like a giant cuddle. Whats not to love right? Its also a divine emerald green colour.

The Sweater

So knowing that i've previously been a knitwear hussy i took to my shopping with a more sensible head and took in to consideration what i needed and only picked up things i love love loved.

This sweater by Next was on my lust list since September. When #NoSpendOctober was in affect it was still on my mind and on the odd occasion i went in to next (for research purposes) i saw this hanging there and still really wanted it. Four weeks on i still loved it and therefore thought it would make sense to buy it, as the fact i still wanted it and it wasn't a passing whim, was a very good sign indeed.

And i have to say, i love it, i really do.  You know me, give me a stripe and i'm a happy girl, so blocks of colour in these glorious shades was definitely a winner for me.

I love that it has multiple colours as it means i will be able to remix it well with other trousers and jeans, and this of course, makes me super happy.

I also feel nice when i wear it, which doesn't happen often with knitwear., but this makes me smile.

The funnel neck is also flattering too and i love that it is comfy, i find high neck/turtle neck/ roll necks a little restricting sometimes, but this is just right.

 The Jeans

The jeans are also a new purchase after my no spend month. I soon realised that i didn't like a great deal of my jeans. With a bit (ok a lot) of weight gain over the past 6 months and the sudden dislike on my behalf of super skinny jeans, i knew i wanted something comfy and looser fitting as i honestly find the skinny style just doesn't suit my pear shape anymore.

-These Grey Straight leg jeans- again from next, grabbed my attention as i was flitting past them one day. They were the only pair on the rail and they were in my size. They looked like a nice loose fit and they were a great light grey.. I picked them up and was shocked at how soft the denim was, it felt like they had been worn the perfect amount to make them in to those perfect jeans that are like old friends.

Needless to say they came home me and i've barely wanted to remove them from my legs.

 Finishing Touches

I finished the look with my trusty comfy Gucci dupe loafers which were such a great buy as i wear them allll the time. My -tassel earrings- are from zalando and bring a nice berry colour to the look.

The bag is my Michael Kors, which after a year of not using, i've fallen back in love with and can't stop using it. Its just the perfect size for throwing no end of stuff in to.

And -the belt-, well another Gucci inspired High street take on their famous GG belt, which i'm quite happy to take the dupe of.

 And there we have it. Outfit of comfy loveliness that i will no doubt be wearing on repeat!

Cherry Red Coat: The Colour of The Season (#Passion4Fashion Linkup)

Red. It is of course the colour of the season, but red for me is a lifelong love rather than a season.
I have had a red coat in my armoury for many years and I honestly couldn't be without one.
This year i have upgraded to -this beauty- and ohhh my days, I couldn't be happier or snugglier (ha, that's a word isn't it?), it will fast become my go to coat i'm sure.
This little number will quickly become your BFF as the colour lends instant pep to your outfit and colour to your face. Cherry red should perhaps be called cheery red, because it really is a cheery colour.
This with any number of neutrals, stripes or leopard print will be an absolute winner.
Easy dressing at its finest i think.
And as for the rest of the outfit? Well i adore all of it. Simple weekend style is really me at my happiness. Throw in some stripes on a casual shirt and the most insanely comfy jeans (more on that in a mo) and i am most certainly one happy gal.
So -these jeans- are a new cut and fabric. With new jean technology these jeans stretch up and down but not side to side for the perfect lift and contour. And honestly.. they really do feel extremely good on. I'm well very fussy with jeans, which is why i stick to the same 4 pairs over and over again, but these have quickly become a new favourite. I love how they bend and stretch with me and don't leave me feeling constricted (which I hate with jeans), i'm not very good with stiff fabrics as ultimately i like to feel comfy at all times, and these do the trick perfectly. I also love showing off a bit of ankle and the crop showcases shoes, or sock boots in this case, really well.

Lastly, because blatantly I have a lot to say about this outfit, the hat. Oh how i love a baker boy hat. I have wanted one like this ever since Kiera Knightly presented banoffe pie to Andrew Lincoln in the film Love Actually. It's just such a great casual hat. and keeps the rain off my hair perfectly.. practical and fun, whats not to love about that eh?!

Shirt Dress Two Ways & #Passion4Fashion Linkup

What a busy busy week.. it still the summer holidays over here and that means trips out each day with my boy, and even the occasional date evening with the husband. Its been busy, busy, buys but good.. so so good.

I love having this time with Neo and i've been packing it full of things to do each day which does mean that yes.. no actual outfit post as such today (although its still an outfit post of sorts as i am still wearing clothes 😂)

But what i wanted to show you all was this amazing little dress i picked up from Next a couple of weeks ago. Its an absolute delight to wear and something i shall be getting a lot more wear of through autumn too. As you allllll know, i love an item that can be worn lots and lots, and this ticks the box perfectly. 

On the first day i wore it as a dress (below), out for a date with the husband i felt lovely in my swishy shirt dress. I paired it with some tan block heels and my little straw bag for a relaxed evening meal with Salvatore. I removed the tie waist and added my own tan tassle belt to cinch in the waist.

Then a week later (above) i wore it to the play gym with my son* , where i undid the buttons to wear like a kimono/shacket. I tucked the collar under also to give the lines a more clean appearance and more kimono like. I added in my fav jeans, a plain cami and finished it off with my red comfy mules and a pop of yellow with the bag to bring out the yellow flowers.

And those aren't the only ways i shall be wearing it, come the cooler months i'm looking forward to pairing it with my tan knee high boots and a big chunky knit cream cardigan. 

Or even layering a thin turtle neck knit underneath and some tights and ankle boots. I'm yet to try it with black also, so maybe something worth dabbling with there too.

This dress really is one that keeps on giving, my favourite kind of dress.

My Go-To Items this Summer

I started this post off as 'My Go-To Dress this Summer', but as i started uploading the photos i realised that actually, each piece I'm wearing here has been part of my summer uniform.  

Firstly, I'm totally crushing on orange, which i think happens every summer, so my Fossil bag has been the perfect pop of colour for every outfit. 

The shoes, well the shoes are new. £14 in the Next sale this weekend. But the style has been part of my 'go-to items' as i'm now a total mid heel convert. Move over high heels, i am allll about the mid heel. After the wedding i attended in a silver pair of mid heels and wearing them from 12 midday till 12 midnight i realised how easy and comfy they are to wear. Cue search for a tan pair. And these babies walked in to my life at less than half price at a wholesome £14.00.

As much as love my tan high heels (i have a great pair of French Connection tan heels which are gorgeous) i feel the mid heel is where i'm at right now. They can easily take you from shops to a night out all in one comfy step.

Plus being tall means i'm not towering above everyone else #tallgirlproblems solved,yay!

And then we have the dress.. Oh this dress. I have worn this dress so very very much this spring/summer.

I have been all over Whistles this season. 

The dress i wore to the aforementioned wedding was a beautiful teal Whistles dress. And now another Whistles dress i'm having a fully fledged love affair with is this one. Back a few months ago when there was a little price war going on between two rather large department stores, i took full advantage and caught myself a goodie.

The length is dignified and easy to wear, the waist tie gives me a little shape, but loose enough to still be cool and not clingy, the sleeves work both rolled up and down, great for when the weather is cool one minute and hot the next.

I have to say also, this shirt dress is the most softest, most beautiful, easy to wear, hardly creases, washes wonderfully, dress i've ever bought. The quality goes with its £80+ price tag, but, having ditched (well, mostly) my cheaper high street spends and opting for quality over quantity, I have to say this dress has most definitely worked for me. Cost per wear is already in the single figures as yep, its actually been worn that much. It's rare for me to find such a piece that makes me want to wear it time and time again as i'm so bloody fickle with my wardrobe, hence the endless amounts of cheaper pieces that have seen one wear and then tossed to the side never to be worn again.

I think spending more on a singular item that i love is working out far better for me than multiple pounds on way too many things that will never see the light of day again.

I think its official.

I'm a fully fledged grown up.
