Baby Blue and Red: A great colour combination to try

I put this colour combination together recently and fell in love. Something about the pale blue and the red that actually really works. The pale of the blue and the bold of the red acts as a great contrast and is a nice alternative to other neutrals. This is a basic jeans and a jumper look but there's something about adding in little bits of interest to make it less of a boring run of the mill outfit.

 THE COAT

Red coat of dreams that keeps on giving. I flippin' love it. I wear it so many times a week. Instant perk you up in a coat and is a dreamy shade of red, and of course is the colour of the season without a doubt. 

What you can't see in these photos is that it has a boucle texture to it which means it looks smart and feels cosy too.

 JEANS

I paired it with my favourite jeans which are a new addition. I've sorta of quit skinny jeans these past 6 months, i just don't feel comfortable in them any more. I don't like how they look on my pear shaped figure, on my ample hips and thighs for me they're just not flattering. The mom jean and the straight leg is where its at for me at the moment, and since i bought these Topshop Moto jeans i have been living in them. Theyre a true denim (so not much stretch) but they are comfy because they aren't clingy like a skinny jean. There's something about the silhouette they create that i'm really enjoying right now.

 THE JUMPER

Oh the jumper.. pale blue isn't a colour i've gravitated towards before, but i saw this and just thought it could work incredibly well with a lot of other items i own. Like i mentioned it acts as a great neutral but with interest. The pearls on the sleeves are such a great little adornment and add the perfect bit of interest to a normal jumper and jeans look.

 FINISHING TOUCHES

I finished the look with some statement earrings, the blue tonal baubles add in another bit of interest, and the navy comfy sock boots are seriously some of the comfiest boots i've ever owned. The style of sock boots sits perfectly with this style of jeans and the point of the boot adds elegance. The kitten heel means these are perfect day wear boots, and i have worn them from 8am till 9pm at night without one single grumble. Oh how i love a comfy boot!

Dressing Out Of My Comfort Zone ( & Passion4Fashion Linkup)

I spoke a couple of weeks ago about creating a defined style, which then enables a more cohesive capsule. But every capsule I've done so far has had what i term 'The Wildcard'.

When you look in my wardrobe at the moment you see a wash of similar colours (denims, blues, black, cream, tan and a little pink and khaki), but what my eye is always pulled to, is this shirt. 

It doesn't fit with my general (loose) theme, but yet it also works well with all my connecting pieces (jeans, skirts and cardigans). 

When I wore this to the Cardiff Vegan Festival last week, Salvatore (my husband) even commented on how different it was for me. 

Which of course I immediately said, "Different? Good different?", and then promptly wanted to go change. We were running late that day so I actually didn't have time to change, but I admit, I felt a little out of my comfort zone all day. Like  a little niggling feeling that i wasn't quite representing myself through my outfit. 

It's not that I hate the outfit, it's ok. But I think it just took me out of my comfort zone, which in turn means that perhaps in my mind I do actually have a defined style. Perhaps my subconscious knows more than I realise. And the style points go to the sub concious mind. 

As for the shirt.. well I'm not sure it's working for me. I'm just not loving it( I bought it a year ago now I think) and having tried it once again, I'm not sure whether to persevere or hand it on to a new home.
