The Perfect Occasion Dress

I own very few occasion dresses, granted i have very few occasions to need special dresses but to have one dress that you can slip on and feel fabulous in is always a good thing. That way if i get any last minute invites i know i wouldn't have to panic and could just throw on my perfect occasion dress and heels and off i shall go to the ball. This Joe Browns beauty is just the dress i needed in my armoury. Colourful, fun and super flattering this is my new 'it' dress. It is made from that super scuba type fabric that is on trend right now,i actually find it helps sculpt your figure and leaves a very flattering line.
The cut of the dress is perfectly retro and feminine, with the beautiful sweetheart neckline and thick straps it is not just well thought out but practical too ( meaning it covers my bra straps, which is always nice).
Joe Browns have always carried such a great range of dresses, they never fail to impress me.

To finish off I added some neon heels, a raspberry clutch  and finally some pink earrings. I did try a necklace but i wanted to keep the sweetheart neckline clean and fuss free. There are so many great colours in this dress it gives lots of great options for accessories.
So there we have it, the perfect occasion dress.. I am super pleased!

Meet Donna (and Passion4 Fashion Linkup!)

Today i get the chance to make the most wonderful introduction. Donna is my northern soul mate, my dress double and 1 part of #frockswapuk.
When i first 'met' her on IG we became buddies straight away and i distinctly remember saying she should start a blog. What with her excellent eye for colours and patterns,  a beautiful wardrobe just begging to be shared with the world and envy inducing hair she had to give it a shot.
And i am so pleased to say, she did just that...

Hello Lovely Donna can you tell us what your blog is and how long you've been blogging?

Polkadot Pink started Christmas 2012, as a place to document my life: the places that I'd visit, the craft projects I'd make for my new home and of course, capture the quirky outfits that I used to wear. It was a time in my life when I was feeling uninspired and needed a creative outlet to focus my energies on. When I met my boyfriend in the following year, Polkadot Pink evolved to include street art, travel and my 'grown up' style. I never took blogging seriously until summer 2013 when I really began to think about blogging my personal style on a regular basis. One hazy summer night, we shot in the golden hour in the beautiful Lancashire hills and it really inspired me to document more of my outfits.

What made you start blogging (apart from me nagging you)?
Like most bloggers, I was inspired to start blogging through the blogs that I read. After discovering Rachel on Instagram and realizing we shared the same wardrobe choices, I soon found her blog and began reading it daily. I would also read blogs like athriftymrs and lesser known blogs. It was the smaller blogs that filled me with the confidence to start blogging. With a journalism degree going to waste, writing my own blog was a natural next step.

Having read your blog from the very begining, i love each and every post but especially when i first really saew you in this outfit! I was all 'WOOAHH!..dammnn girl looks good in jeans!'
But what would you say is your favourite post?
It's so difficult to choose a favourite post, I'm my own biggest critic so I'll choose an outfit I dearly love and a post that I really enjoyed writing. The gingham midi dress. This beautiful Duck and Duffel dress arrived on my door step towards the end of the spending ban. Debbie had very kindly agreed to swap me this beautiful dream dress for another frock. I chose to wear it for a family lunch at my parents house. They live in a cottage in the English countryside. On route, the boy and I decided to shoot some pictures. He pushed me to climb into a field of rotting leeks to get this shot. It reminded me that sometimes you have to take risks, a motto I write by at Polkadot Pink

Your posts are always colourful and you are so at ease in every shot..where do you find inspiration?
My blogging inspiration is heavily dictated by my everyday life. I find travelling to be one of my biggest inspirations. Naturally, I can't always go travelling to find inspiration and fellow bloggers inspire me. Blogging link ups and Pinterest help to open my mind to new ideas and introduce me to new ways of styling. From time to time, there are times when I'm feeling totally uninspired and I think taking a break can sometimes help to reignite inspiration.

Having spent the past 12 months changing and growing my own sense of style i have noted a certain style-volution within your own outfits. Its been wonderful to watch.
How have you felt this past year and what prompted your changes?
My personal style is definitely evolving. I think nearing the big 3-0 forces you to think about how you dress. Age is a mere number, but I had started to feel immature in outfits made from brights and quirky prints so I decided to tone it down. I've always had a huge fascination with the sixties style and in most outfits, you'll find a patterned print or a strong collar. The 100 Day Spending Ban forced me to take a good look at what I wore and owned. I'd had some dresses for years, so recently I've been selling what I no longer wear on eBay, Instagram and Depop.

And lastly because we all know i'm nosey;
Where do you blog from?
My bed! I've tried blogging in various spaces in my house: the office, the breakfast bar, the spare room, the living room but there are no comfier places than my bedroom. It's awaiting a complete overhaul and has limited furniture, but it's the one place where I can focus and my writing flows. It's where I feel most at home.

Complete Babe isn't she!
Be sure to swing by and follow along for her wonderful style and lifestyle posts, you will leave feeling all warm and fuzzy inside by the time you leave i assure you.

There will be another outfit post from me coming up tomorrow so be sure to pop back fro that as I have the most gorgeous dress i would love to show y'all.

My First Jumpsuit and the most Perfect Red Heels

I did it! I took the plunge and bought my first Jumpsuit! This Mango jumpsuit i had been eyeing up went on sale at Asos for half price (see link), so i took that as a green light to buy it and try it!AND  I am super super pleased i did. The fabric falls so beautifully on, its soft and comfy yet smart.
Its jumpsuit love.
The belt is attached which isn't my favourite as it would have been nice to change it with different coloured belts perhaps (tan would have been nice), but i can live with it as it makes it extremely easy to just throw on and wear. The length on this one is a great length for me (i'm 5ft 6") and seems to sit well with heels, and today i am going to try with some flats to do some errand running.
Please excuse the wrinkles, when we took these photos i had just ripped open the Asos parcel and threw it on in excitement..

I couldn't possibly continue without mentioning my wonderful Daniel Footwear shoes. I have been after the perfect red heels for years! (true story!) Then these happened. Italian made, beautifully constructed and all in sexy red.. I have died and gone to shoe heaven (as you may have seen on Instagram). These are my new date shoe, i went on a day date with the bestie for her birthday and happily pranced in wearing these. I may have also worn them to just get coffee. A shoe that makes you feel great and looks good..well that can only be a good thing, right?
Lastly i decided a bit of bling was in order, i mixed some teal in with this gorgeous statement necklace just for fun and love the red and teal combo...

Mango Jumpsuit (actual one and half Price!) : Asos
Necklace: Yosa
Bag: Primark

So there we have it my first jumpsuit and my search for the perfect red shoe is over!
A great day all round i would say!

What are your thoughts on jumpsuits? Are you jumping in or staying away?

Black &White Dress with a dash of Pink

A quick post from me today as i've not a lot to say due to being poorly majority of my weekend (damn it!) and fighting fatigue as I type (can you hear that tiny violin lol...)
So just a simple dress outfit today folks. Black, white, pink annnndd done :)
Such an easy formula. This new dress is so easy to wear (and only £10 might i add!) I love the little vice-versa colour on the sleeves. I threw a blazer over this but it was warm enough to be without it. I can see a pair of flat black sandals and a denim jacket in this dresses future for a more relaxed summer outfit and then some thick black tights and boots and a colour pop coat for winter! Multi-seasonal, my favourite kind of piece.
THIS dress is also on my to-buy list..Stripes can do no wrong in my eyes!

Actual Dress & Pink Shoes: Matalan
Pink Bag: Next
Blazer: Primark
Necklace: Yosa (shop launch soon!)
