I go out-out (and by out-out i mean nights out) very rarely, to the point where even the sniff of a cocktail sends me in to a drunken world-loving crazy lady (true story.. happened last friday. I'd just like to say i'm a very happy drunk, i love the world when i'm intoxicated).
So when i buy a dress i have to be able to wear it both for going out-out and also in-in (ha), i mean, it has to be able to be dressed down for my day to day life. I find Hush pieces perfect for this. They are just the right amount of dressy and casual and perfectly versatile.
For my leaving doo with the lovely ladies i worked at the travel agency with i chose the Annabelle Dress in Blue Swirl (which they now do in burgundy too which i also love!) for the fact that i could see it dressed up with heels and a little blazer, but also with a thick cosy tights, a slouchy hat, boots and a chunky knit cardigan. I can't wait to wear it again like this in winter and hope to share it all with you again here.
But for my lovely night out of cocktails, food, more cocktails and lots of laughs (and just a few tears), i paired it with my Mango military blazer, which sits perfectly with dresses due to its cropped length, my Primark lace-up heeled shoes and a little bling a la Yosa.

Do you buy dresses for their versatility or do you have separate dresses for different occasions?

I always go for versatile, unless for a really special event. Love how you have styled the dress.Good luck with your venture, I think it's fantastic what your doing, and thanks for hosting

Ooo I love this jacket so so much! The mix of the green jacket and the blue dress is wonderful too. I try to buy versatile pieces but sometimes I just have to get something ridiculous for one occasion like the black sequined dress I own.

As bittersweet as the dinner might have been, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteRachel, I love how you paired this flowy, silky shirt dress with such a tailored cropped jacket. It's such a cute juxtaposition.
All the best to you. Now I'm going to go listen to the blog that gives the full story (I think) as to what you are up to. :D

The print of the dress is beautiful, and I love the military jacket! I have dresses for going "out out" but rarely get the chance to use them these days. I tend to get more wear out of day dresses - in other words, dresses that are not too tight and can accommodate a post lunch food baby!
