Style or Brand: What do you shop for? ( & #Passion4Fashion Linkup)

I recently bought myself these black hi-tops in the New Look sale for £9.00. I had been gazing longingly at the same style but by Converse.. the original creater of this style. But at £49.99 i just couldnt part with the cash, not with new uniforms, shoes, trainers, bags, lucnhboxes etc to buy through the summer and we also had a holiday to look forward to which of course needed spending money.
New shoes for me were not a top priority. So when i saw these for a mere few pound I couldn't believe my luck.
I actually have red Converse that i've had for years, and i have to say, these New Look ones are more comfy; where the red con's are fairly narrow and pinch the sides of my feet by the end of the day, these don't, I can wear them all day (and day in day out like i have been of late) and they are just easy to wear and comfy.

But it got me thinking.
Do we buy for style or brand?  And also fit and cost plays a factor too.
I remember I really wanted a pair of Adidas Stan smiths so i bought a similar cheaper non branded pair, but i would always look at them and think how they weren't the ones i wanted and ended up not even wearing them(I did donate them to my sister who was happy to wear them, so the shoes weren't a complete loss). And yet once i had bought the Stan's i Loved them instantly
It's interesting isn't it, especially when the different is £40.00

Do you shop for Brand or Style?
