I'm off..

Welcome to the weekend folks! yippee :)
Just a flying visit from me, I'm off to the in-laws in London this weekend so i'm running around like a loon trying to pack for 5 people and one particular person needs a whole shed load of stuff (neo that is , not me, although i always over pack, i can't help it, i don't know what i'm going to want to wear when i wake up so i take a lot to give me a choice;)

Green Jeans: George, Asda
Bird Blouse: Very
Shoes: Matalan, about 6 years ago
Yup, i've jumped on the green jean band wagon, is it a blogger thing? i dunno, all i know is they are green my fav colour, they are comfy, and they go with soooo many things in my wardrobe. Who'd a thought it!
Well i'm off to go run round a bit more and try and not forget anything or anyone!

Hope you all have fabulous weekends and i'll see you on the other side!

Take care!

Hearty Sailor

Ah hoy there matey's (is that what sailors say?)
Hope you're all having a great week so far. i cant believe we're nearing mid week already!
I have absolutely nothing of any interest to say today, so i will bore you a little with the reality that is my life today...
i got a fringe trim today, which is nice, hellooo world i can see you again!
i felt like a sailor in this outfit, a pretty girly one who wears hearts on her skirt
i could not wait to finish work today(but thats the same as every day i work)
i have taken waaaayy to long editing these pictures and done my own head in!
that is all.

Jumper: Topshop
Skirt: Next
Shoes: F&F, Tesco

i had a guest come out to see me have photos done

this boy loves to outside (and in his slippers too!)

he cracks me up, 2 seconds later he legged it up the street!

Couple of cool things:
Lots of people in bloggy world talking about no heat curling, well i did it from this video, and it worked AMAZINGLY! i awoke excited to see the results and then proceeded in taking off the headband thinking it may not have worked, but to my surprise the curls were gorgeous and bouncy. I'm addicted! No heat, little effort and 5mins of time equals my perfect hair style!
This was the end of the day and they had dropped a bit to wavy curls but still held out all day .
When i went to the hairdressers to get a fringe(bangs) trim, she was impressed. I impressed a hairdresser! i gave her the link and told her to try it. I know some people have tried it and not been impressed but i have thick frizzy hair so it works a treat for me.

And my other groovy news:

After a little Tweet conversation with Joy they featured me in the Kitty jumper on their blog! Have you guys seen their stuff? Seriously good! I think i have my eye on a least 6 things! its mothers day, my wedding anniversary and easter coming up so i think i may send specific links to hubby to see if he gets the hint!

Annnyyways enough about me how are you??

Much Love

New Look!!!

Well Hellooooo!!
How do you like my brand spanking new online home!
Welcome to
Rachel The Hat!!
New name and a face lift. Still the same URL so i won't have lost any of you thankfully, and i hope you enjoy the new look as much as i do.
This handy work is by the loveliest lady My Girl Thursday. She has an amazing talent and the patience of a saint and i may have been a nightmare customer, but she did not let on once! ;)

So the name, ye..., it was none of the options i originally thought of, but it was a suggestion from the hubby. I may have mentioned before but will explain!
Before marrying my Hubby and changing to his Sicilian surname, my maiden name was Bowler. Now when you tell people this name for some reason they look at you perplexed. The name would then always come with a description:
"hi my name is Bowler as in the Hat"
When i met my now hubby he nicknamed me Rachel The Hat and it became my user name on lots of sites and then stuck. Its nice that it pays homage to my maiden name. I'm also a big hat lover, so that helps!!

Content will be the same as always with a few new additions such as ;
Spotlight on: A monthly favourite which could be a shop, blog, etsy or brand, anything that may have caught my eye that month.
Catch up: Monthly chin wag with you my lovelies about what's been happening that month.

So without further a do... here's my first outfit for Rachel The Hat

Jumper:  from Joy
Skirt: Peacocks on sale £4.00
Shoes:Next last year
Bag:Matalan
What can i say, i love animals on my clothes and this is the most purrfect (ha, sorry couldn't resist!) kitty jumper. I mean, the kitty has glasses! how cool is that! D'you ever get something and feel like you want to wear it all.the.time. Well that's me and the kitty, i could quite happily wear this most days!
And the skirt? I have been longing for a vintage  skirt like this for yonks, but could not find one anywhere, and then i found this non vintage but lovely one for £4! and it fits like a glove and the length is just right for me being a clumsy mama!

Well then folks, i will love you and leave you for now, but hope you like all the changes and would love to know what you think.

Much love

Red Riding Hood

Hey all...
Today here in Wales, it is our countries Patron Saint, St. David's day!

There's lots of symbols for Wales; Daffodils, Leeks, Harps, Love Spoons. We are quite the bunch!
So wherever you are in the world, Happy St. Davids day from Wales!

To mark the day I've worn a red dress :)
Red Dress & black patent shoes: Clothing at Tesco (dress on sale £7.00!!)
Blouse: New Look

Spring has sprung so it seems!!

We've had some truly beautiful days here
Now this outfit has brought three like minded comments.... School Girl.
Now before i stepped out the door, the thought did occur to me, that yes i do slightly look like i may be going back to school as a mature student.
But as the day went on i started to wonder if i looked a bit, well, silly.
The outfit as a whole i love, but then i started thinking, am i getting a wee bit old to be dressing like this? I mean, im a mum. When i drop my son off to school in a couple of years time will he mocked as his mother dresses like a school girl? I've come over all self doubting suddenly. Should i be conforming to the jeans and suit jackets or worse, hoodies? Okay, thats not gunna happen really, but it has definetly got me wondering....ponder, ponder, ponder. Whats your thoughts? would love to hear!
Either way, the £7 red dress is wonderful, i already have 4 other remix ideas with it which i cant wait to share with you.

so then lovely bloggy folks, off to do some actual work. Weekend is almost upon us, woohoo!
