Apparently
Apparently i didnt feel like looking at the camera once this particular day.
Apparently i had the long gaze in to the distance type stare really going on, to the point where i couldn't even contemplate looking at my (lovely) photographer.
Apparently i like to touch my scarf and hair .. a lot!
Apparently i have obviously been doing this for way too long
Le sigh...
So dodgy poses aside, how are you? I am settling in nicely to the 100 day shopping ban (can you say cold turkey, anyone?!) Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement on my new endeavour, i have to say its quite exhilarating right now. I'm sure some time in the not to distant future i will have such bad cravings i will want to even sell my first born to get my hands on some new goods... BUT all in good time. Right now i am just going to sit back and enjoy my current closet.
My bestie had a great suggestion of putting aside £1.00 each day so at the end of the 100 days i will have £100 to go out an treat myself. i won't miss the £1 each day as i spend way more than that on average per week, so thats what i shall do. and that my friends is exciting!
And of course the brown biker jacket is never far behind these days. One of my most worn items this a/w i'd say.
What are you remixing lately?

The Start (#100DAYSHOPPINGBAN)
I have had on my mind for some time the want for new clothes verses the need for new clothes. I shop because i very much enjoy it. The scouring the rails, the online browsing the buzz from purchasing that new outfit all thrills me. But its like an addiction. Each week i fInd myself needing/wanting to buy something new, adding more and more to my ever growing wardrobe. A few pieces added due to weight loss and need for new jeans is understandable, but the constant dress buying? The need for new knitwear? Its excessive. SO...
I want to try something i have never done before.
I am inflicting a 100 day shopping ban on myself.
Firstly, the money i save will, obviously, be wonderful. I want to put this towards a number of trips for us to have as a family this summer. I can't afford new clothes every week and trips in the summer. Priorities.
Secondly, i do not need anymore clothes. I probably have enough clothes to wear a different outfit for everyday of the year. I have favourites that i often stick to, and i have some great re-mixable pieces. I want to really get in to using what i already have rather than always buying something new and getting a buzz from that. I want to feel fabulous in my existing clothes and how clever i can be with making new outfits out of old pieces.
I have to say i am actually a bit nervous. Shopping is my hobby, and i thoroughly enjoy it too. But where does the purchasing stop, does it ever? I feel a bit wasteful right now as i don't get enough wear out of what i already own. Some pieces are worn once then shunned to the back of the wardrobe never to see the light again, this is just wasteful and a bit shameful :(
So i am going to go 100 days without clothes shopping (my shopping ban isnt on food and essentials...obvs, just clothes and accessories ) I have a couple of exceptions which i am allowing myself.
1. lingerie. Needs must girls and i currently do need some upgrades so that will be something i will allow some purchases of.
2. Makeup/hair stuff, if i need it then i will allow myself to buy some products. What i do plan on doing is running down/using completely any current products i have( ie use all shampoo then buy new rather than having 3 different ones on the go because you like a change of smell, lol, anyone else do this?!)
3. If companies would like to send me samples i will happily accept these, because who doesnt love free stuff?!
And that is it.
Anyone who wants to join in, (which would be awesome!! we can make a little #100dayshoppingban group and encourage one another and help when we feel weak!) please let me know in the comments below and we can link up once weekly here on RTH. Or gimme a tweet @RachelTheHat and let me know.
Even if we only make it half way, to me this would be amazing. I am hoping to do this. I have pretty good will power once my mind is set and this would be a great achievement on so many levels (better for the bank balance, better for the environment!)

Just lastly i have to say a big thank you to Persunmall for the lovely package i received just after Christmas. I chose myself a few gorgeous products including this Blue Knit Dress which i absolutely adore.. this blue is definitely a favourite of mine this winter! Its a great textured knit (all be it a bit short), but makes for a great tunic style with leggings, perfect for throwing on and doing the school run or even popping out for lunch. Im in love. Now to remix this bad boy of the next couple of months, yay!!

New Year, New Dress
It only feels right to welcome the new year in with a new dress (and a new jacket too, thanks to my darling hubs for picking out the best Xmas pressie!)
I feel like i am actually excited for what this year could hold, which is a feeling i haven't felt for a long time. I have found hope and excitement with it. Its kinda nice :-)
Im still working on my 30 before 30 list which i want to finalise and post pretty soon to give myself some goals to work to this coming year. I also have a couple of great projects i'm working on this month which i'm looking forward to starting, one is an impending 100 day No-shopping challenge!! Anyone interested in joining me? Its something i've wanted to inflict on myself for a real long time, but now feels good. I have SO very many clothes, i do not need to shop, i literally do it as a hobby for fun. But i want to enjoy and make the most of my current wardrobe and remix and re use lots of what i already have. So 100 days of no spend, starting Monday 6th Jan. If anyone wants to join me let me know, we can form a little self help group to see us through the days ;-) Its gunna be a challenge but one i am ready to embrace!
So funny trying to do the blogger poses when theres an audience. There were literally people staring which was hilarious (and uncomfortable!) I'm so used to quiet little countryside back streets that when it comes to open spaces and tourist attractions (Ogmore Castle in this case) i get flustered. Its like no ones seen a girl having her photo taken before, LOL! But i am trying to overcome my care of what others think and overcoming any embarrassment, you only live once right?
Its quite the beauty spot here, theres the castle and rivers and fields and just a little further along it opens up on to Ogmore beach. This place has a very special place in my heart as its where hubby proposed many moons ago;) I haven't been down here for so long, life kept getting in the way. 2014 is the year for getting out more for sure.
