Snow Day!!!!

Today it snowed and it was FUN!!

 We've had a fair bit of snow around this time for the past 3 years and this time has been the most fun! We took Neo out on a sledge and had an epic snowball fight (which Paul won hands down... i throw like such a girl!) and then we built a little snow teddy bear. I'm exhausted now!

 I put layered outfit together this morning and then changed for snow play this afternoon. I didn't realise when i put it together that there's actually 3 types of pattern going on (stars, check and animal)  but i kinda loved all the different pieces together! Plus super layers meant warmth. The tights i have on are fleece lined and are the best invention ever! To go play in the snow i put my jeans on over them and my   Lands' End coat which is unbelievable warm. I had the hood up and took it down as my head felt so warm! That was until Paul got me in the face with a snow ball... ugh!! It's his birthday today so i shall let him off!!

Looking at this photo i look like im phony laughing which im totally not,(although i am actually rather good at fake laughing and fake enthusiasm .. its a skill!) I had literally slipped and then slipped again and could not compose my balance at all. I do love these boots but they have ZERO grip. Best kept for non snowy slippy days me thinks.

Window Shopping: The Diane Von Furstenburg Edition

When i first started this blog, i had a page with some of my most longed for fashion loves, that page included a Kate Spade bag, a pair of Jimmy Choo's and a classic wrap dress by Diane Von Furstenburg.
That page isn't on the blog any more  and my lusting after a Kate Spade  bag and a pair of super high Jimmy Choos has long gone. However the love of the classic wrap dress and retro prints of a DVF dress still remains.
From time to time i window shop at Matches Fashion and take in some of the DVF range and dream of wearing, what is to me, the epitome of all dresses.

The iconic wrap dress which originates from whence she first started back in the 1970's and then relaunched with the same cut of dress in 1997. Classic, timeless pieces.
The thing i love about a wrap dress is how beautifully flattering they are for every shape. I have owned quite a lot of wrap dresses in my time, from when i was a skinny 18 year old to now 10 years later with a lot bigger *ahem* curves. With a sales price tag of £162.00 i can not tell you how tempted i am to buy one of these beautiful pieces that would become the prized possession to me in the wardrobe department. It's just one of those dresses that would be a treat to me... a nod to myself as an adult. the pat on the back, the well done you've worked hard, you deserve this... ;-)

Biker Jacket Pt 2: Girly Dress

You guys responded so amazingly to Part 1 last week, that i couldn't wait to share the next :

Part Two: Biker Jacket meets Girlie Dress

So i've had this pretty little butterfly dress since well before Christmas (possibly November:-/) and it just hung there for a long time a bit lonely and a bit sad. When the biker jacket arrived, i draped it over the same coat hanger as the dress and thenceforth an outfit was born. So a simple lack of coat hangers can sometimes be a blessing....

 I love how a girlie dress can be given that edgier look with a Biker jacket, its whimiscal print is toned down with leather and studs and zips and boots. I have no problem with super girly (as you probably already know!) But i do like to dabble with other styles and this one hits the nail on the head for me, i get my hit of pretty dresses and adds a different flavour to my normal style.

 Well we have had a very quiet and chilled weekend, which was just what was needed after an extremely stressful week. There's been lots of reading, sitting around doing nothing and eating.. blissful i tell ya!
I'm off to go do some more reading I've just finished Marian Keyes latest (Mystery of Mercy Close) and  just loaded up on the old kindle Dawn French's latest (Oh Dear Sylvia) and i'm already intrigued and don't want to put it down..

SS13 Key Trends

I had every intention of having another outfit post up today, but life doesnt go to plan much does it? So i thought i could leave you today with some thoughts of Spring! Even though the forecast is for snow this weekend, i can't help but look forward to spring time!
So if you’re wondering what’s on trend this coming season, you may be pleasantly surprised by the mix of familiar looks and wildcard picks by the most renowned designers. The spring/summer collections of these designers may be the only chance you get to combine crisp whites with psychedelic camouflage...
So here they are, the key trends to try;

All white:

 It’s not just for brides any-more. One of the most clever trends that designers could ever bring back is the all-white craze, which helps you stay cool during the sizzling summer months. But this trend is more than just functional -- it’s a way to look stunning and crisp, no matter what the occasion. Acne previewed their bright white collection a while back, complete with fun twists like a white cowboy hat and knee-high lace-up platform sandals.

Colour-blocked designer handbags:

 This trend first popped up two years ago, but it seems that designers aren't quite ready to let it go -- at least when it comes to handbags -- and neither are we! Colour-blocked bags are a great way for the fashionably timid to play with geometrical shapes without having to commit to an entire outfit. Try Paula Cademartori’s Silver Satin Tatiana bag for an accessory that strikes the perfect colour-blocking balance.

Thick stripes:

Ditch your pinstripes or the referee look for a bigger, bolder pattern. You can wear them in any direction, and it’s more fun if you forego the classic black and white combination. This season, colours like reds and neon greens will be everywhere, so why not try one of these with an ivory or grey offset?

Longing for the 60s:

The 60s as a fashion era is so easy to replicate because the elements that dominated style back then are, in themselves, timeless. Shift dresses are an easy go-to that always look chic, and checkered prints are a fun way to add interest to any outfit. Paisley prints are another 60s trend that can be done easily in the present day -- just pair it with a nude lipstick and giant sunnies.

 For a trip back in time that’s not so extensive as yearning for 60s fashion, look no further than your yesteryears. Most of us were in our teens or early 20s in the decade of grunge rock, the revival of woodstock, and the heyday of MTV. But fun pieces like gold chains and midriff-baring tops, which can become a more age-appropriate look when paired with another 90’s look -- high-waisted trousers -- will instantly make you feel like a kid again.

My Favourite is the 60's of course, some things never change for me;-)  I am also keen to experiment with  more whites this year too!
