Have you ever seen a dress and instantly thought 'I must buy that dress!'
I have, quite frequently in-fact.
Sometimes i stop myself and then the urge wears off, but sometimes i just go hell for leather for that must-have beauty.
That was the case with this dress.
I first saw a photo of it on the gorgeous Laura of WIT blog on instagram. I commented, clicked the little heart, then could not stop thinking about the purddy purddy dress.
I had an email from Monsoon whilst i was on holidays in Cornwall to say their heritage collection was now on sale, with limited wifi, i clicked and waited, and then there it was.. The dress i had lusted after. So with dodgy signal, on my phone, i made that dress mine *cue evil laugh* ;)
The reason i love it so much is the sheer potential it has.
For Autumn i can see it with ankle boots and a faux fur gilet. For winter knee high boots, and a lovely thick cardi and spring a simple pair of tan or black sandals.
And we all know how much i like remixable dresses! This excites me. A piece that i will wear again and again.
So with the potential of it being a good little work horse its earned its way in to my wardrobe.
Plus it's red. We all know how much i love red! (Also thinking Christmas day dress.. could be good right? And yes, i just went there and said Christmas..feel free to slap me)
For this late summers evening, when the temperatures are still fairly mild, i chose my new Warehouse black lace up shoes.
Lace ups shoes have definitely become a shoe staple of mine. With the navy and orange summer pairs, i knew i had to have a black pair for autumn.

That is one very gorgeous dress!! Beautfiful colour and style, and most definitely would work for Christmas. I am so glad someone has mentioned Christmas! It's all I've been thinking about since the start of September - I love it.
ReplyDeleteI have a dress that I lusted after once....weirdly it was from Monsoon too. It was a white 50s style dress with a tiny floral print all over in red. Halterneck, flared skirt, netting...it was absolutely perfect. I used to stare at it in the window on my way to work every day, thinking I would go and buy it. One day it wasn't there anymore, and was sold out....the moral of the story, seize the day and buy it! :)
I really love your shoes too.
You look beautiful in this dress! the colors show wonderfully on your skin tone and I love the delicate details.

Gorgeous!! just love your hair that way Rachel xx
ReplyDeleteThis dress is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteI initially thought "yeah, its pretty on Rachel...but not my thing...the shape/cut/length is all wrong for my body"
Then I looked closer....great colours (can be mixed and clashed with lots of different items), perfect neck/sleeves for layering (polo necks, striped under-tops, fine knits), perfect for layering with chunky cardigans and furry gilets, great length for boots (long and ankle) AND those Pom Pom's are super-cute and fun (I love a pom pom!!).
All in all a fabulous dress!
I am looking forward to seeing what else you do with it in the colder weather.
