As predicted, as soon as the kids go back to school, the persistent rain leaves,. the clouds part and the sun comes out. Its not super warm in the mornings,it's actually quite chilly, but by the afternoon the day has heated up and it can be quite hot.
So what to wear in this tricky weather? Good question. Honestly? I'm stumped most mornings, so my go-to formula seems to have been a maxi dress and cardigan or light jacket. Simple and easy, and as they day goes on i will shed the light layer and then re-instate it in the chill of the evening.
This dress has been on constant rotation this summer (I'm surprised it's not been on here before now) It's actually from last year and is still a summer favourite of mine. Paired with the slouchy cardigan it has been the perfect outfit to throw on for easy days or dates with the hubs.
So do you have a way of dealing with the late summer weather we've been having? Typical British summer really, rain all August and sunshine through September. I have to admit, i am so excited for when its that bit cooler and i can wear tights and chunky knitwear.. anyone else with me on that one? Crisp sunny days but with a chill in the air are my favourite!
I normally wear some simple gold hoops and a gold bangle with this outfit, but forgot to grab them off the shelf beofre leaving (d'oh!) so do me a favour and picture some pretty gold hoop earrings and a chunky gold bangle, yes? Aw thanks, you're a good 'un.
Dress: River Island (last year)
Cardigan& Clutch: New Look
Sandals: F&F
Do you cling on to your summer attire for as long as possible or are you already wearing autumns new additions?

I love this outfit - that dress is stunning! You look amazing! I've been moving more towards jeans and cardigans now that the weather is a little bit colder, but I do have a lovely maxi-skirt I might pull out inspired by your outfit xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Alice.. I too have been wearing a lot of jeans and cardi's (this one im wearing in this post actually more often than not!) as it's quite hard to decide what to wear when the weathers neither here nor there. dare i say it, but im actually looking forward to chillier weather!Xo
DeleteYou look gorgeous! I'm excited for tights, chunky knits and boots too! I sort of love these early autumn days.
ReplyDeleteThank you ashley! I am so excited for chillier weather that enables me to wear tights and boots.. thats not weird is it?! lol!XX
DeleteWe didn't have a lot of August rain but September's looking to be rainy most days! Sounds like you're having the typical transitional weather dilemma. I wish it was cool at all where I am. I'm very sick of the heat. I think you look awesome here and a cardigan is always a good transitional piece because it's so easy to take off. This dress is super pretty on you too.

as much as i love autumn i can't stand persistent rain, and when it rains here in the uk it RAINS..like non stop for 10 days straight which is very meh! but thankfully right now the sun is still out which i really need to make the most of!Thanks so much Jamie, wishing you an awesome week sweetie xx
DeleteLove this transitional look - you look fabulous. It's still summer here (in Florida) for another month or so, so no changes just yet. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday!

yes leggings used to be my constant go to in this inbetween weather, i don't wear them much any more but think i may have to dig them out again as they can be perfect for transitioning xx
DeleteThat dress is gorgeous! LOVE that cardigan, looks so comfy! xo Andrea
ReplyDeleteBoho Bunnie
thanks andrea, it is sooo comfy, only problem with the cardi is that its so drapey sometimes it gets caught on things like door handles and the likes haha!XX
DeleteYou look gorgeous in this outfit! I love Autumn, and used to be very quick to get the Autumn wardrobe out. I've now learnt that if I start wearing boots in September, I'll be in them until May, so I try and hold out a bit longer and just layer up a bit more, still wearing wedge sandals if it's not too cold/wet, and I refuse to wear tights until October at least!!
